Scheduling of the inbound and outbound trucks at a Cross-Docking platform considering mutualization of docks

Paper aims This paper studies a new Cross-Docking (CD) scheduling problem inspired by the trend of resource mutualization at CD operations where company owning platform can lease its docks to other companies. Originality work pioneers solving problem, there is set requirements for leasing loading and unloading period, accept or decline each requirement. Considering that availability linked trucks company’s docks, decision must be made along with decisions trucks. Research method To solve this proposes Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) formulation. Main findings Using commercial solver, MILP formulation optimally 65/128 instances based on real operation. For remaining instances, obtains an average optimized gap 8.95%. Implications theory practice The acceptable results. Moreover, we found all accepted showing it economically interesting docks.
